Sorry for the late post, took a minute to figure out what we were going to be able to do.
My partner and I are planning on renting a car and driving from Denver to IDA leaving most likely sometime Wednesday morning or around the middle of the day (6/1) and driving straight through, or at least getting in to Nashville within about 24 hours so that it'll only go in as a one-day rental - so that would involve missing the first day of the festival. We do plan on turning the car in at the Nashville airport and taking the IDA shuttle from there to the festival (assuming they're still running that). Since I'm the only one of us that can drive, we are in super need of an extra driver, and preferably someone who can pitch in for gas and rental. Getting an extra two folks is ideal, although not sure we could squeeze three more in unless people had very minimal gear, or if it were for only a much shorter leg of the trip.
We're probably going to get a pretty fuel-efficient car (guessing about 30 mpg or so), and at highball estimates of current gas prices, this should get us to IDA for about $83 or so if we take the most direct route, and the rental would be about $23 if we can do it in 24 hours. So that'll come to about $35 per person if we were to split it 3 ways, or ~$26 per person if we end up with 4 people. That can be a little flexible, but at least wanted folks to know what that was probably going to look like.
Also totally down to pick someone up in Kansas City or somewhere along the way, especially if it's not too far out of the way or if you can meet us somewhere that's along the route. Could potentially take the route that goes through Arkansas and Memphis, or the one that goes through Lincoln and Iowa, instead, if that was what we needed to do. But right now planning on taking the shortest route (I-70 through Kansas and Missouri).
Since we'd have to rent a car in the first place, we're definitely interested in any rides that might be going that way, but sort of assuming that's not going to happen at this point, especially given our late departure time.
As far as rides back in this direction, we're hoping to find someone there we can ride back this way with, but barring that, we'll be doing the same thing in reverse and would again be interested in additional drivers/gas-money-sharers.
Please reply back here or hit me up at owenriot (at) gmail (dot) com if you think we can work together!
